What makes The Grid so special? What can it do that other modular systems can’t? Do I need it and why is “Reactor” not enough? In this video I try to express my opinion on this topic. As usual in bad English and wild hand gestures. The main point is, you choose your tool according to how it flows and how you want to approach your projects. You can make music with anything, if you only want to.

For me Bitwig sits on the sweet spot on all levels: price, interface, opinions, workflows and features. The reddit post in my video. Also download the Bitwig 3 Demo to decide for yourself. It works on all platforms. If you like my videos, you can support me on Patreon! Was macht “The Grid” so besonders? Brauch ich es und warum reicht nicht auch “Reaktor”? In diesem Video versuche ich meine Meinung zu dem Thema etwas darzulegen. Wie gewohnt im продолжить чтение Englisch und wilden Handgestiken.

You can modulate just about every parameter using two LFOs, two envelopes, and four sequencers. Note that the Base package is undoubtedly feature-packed and capable of almost any kind of sound design. As a long time modular user and builer my introduction to Reaktor was a moment of joy. Why worry about add-ons at this point? The freebie is a “complete modular synthesis package, with 22 modules and over presets. Best, Geoff.

Geoff Grace said:. Nick Batzdorf Moderator Moderator. Cool, just downloaded to check it out I havn’t installed it yet but it should be complete with 22 modules and or so presets. Would be instructive to know what ‘capable’ users find regular need for No desire here to spend more and add more if mostly duplication with minor enhancements.

I have the Softube Modular, and nearly all the extra modules, and that is keeping me quite busy. I also have the Arturia Moog Modular, which is fun, is somewhat locked in time. It would seem I’m pretty well set? On the other hand free is tough to argue. I may download the free edition to get a listen. It’s a really nice virtual modular. The UI is very well thought out. I ended up buying quite a few of the other modules. Then I built a real Eurorack modular after getting way into it.

Its main competition now is VCV Rack, which is also free, offers a bewilderingly huge number of free modules from 3rd party developers of many quality levels — some are really great, some are someone’s first attempt at programming — no offense , as well as some paid ones, but which, for now, doesn’t run as a plugin it is standalone. Post by fac » Wed Dec 12, am Puredata with Automatonism would be my current favorite plus it’s free! Have yet to try VCV, but it looks pretty cool. Also like Audiomulch and VAZ, but haven’t used them in years. I use soft-modulars mostly for teaching but also when traveling.

My music website My modular blog. I haven’t tried the Voltage Modular Post by mritenburg » Wed Dec 12, am I vote for Reaktor.

Sure, all 3 can emulate modular synths, but emulating modular synths is just one of the many, many, many, many possible ways to use Reaktor. Reaktor is open-ended and extremely flexible. I mean, c’mon, people have built video games using Reaktor. You will never do it while playing live because it can interrupt your patch completely and still often results in crashes.

Still Reaktor and Blocks is one of the most used and best sounding piece of software for me. Again, thank you very much for your great effort you did with Euro Reakt! I hope to see more updates in the future. The next update has I think seven new Blocks. There are a few subharmonic generators, along with two minimal drums I may expand that. I need to do the annoying packaging process taking Block icon images, writing documentation, checking the automation names, etc.

VCV rack great for dipping your toes in. Softube – Better virtual analog modeling Vcv Rack – better interface, much more variety, free. If you have a mac: My experience with Vcv is not good so far. Everytime I use it my fans go crazy. Many mac users experience the same thing. I understand ease of use of the Grid is off the charts, just wondering if it is worthwhile buying Bitwig for the Grid as a sound source only? Personally, in terms of sound, Softube Modular takes the cake, but VCVRack is the obvious winner for flexibility and value-for- no money.

Unless they fixed something over the last year, it was laggy and would just freeze Ableton. Both tend towards CPU hoggery, especially at higher sample rates. Could do with some more sequencing options, though. Will order within the next weeks. Braids and Rings and some other stuff. Softube modular is probably the closest you will get to the real thing and also boasts three expansions as well as an additional drum expansion Heartbeat , which you have to purchase separately though.

I recently took the time to practice and explore Arturia Modular V3 in the V collection 5. Wow this thing can get some good Moog tones and then some. When any modular software you can pickup a lot of good youtube tutorials and just explore. Once you have the concepts down you can just grab any other software modular and design sounds and sequences. Maybe Battery 5 could turn into a Geist program. Reaktor is pretty much the king here, but Softube modular is a lot of fun and sounds great too.

Heartbeat is a great example, but also some of the FX are available too. Check KVR for people selling it or any other software you want. KVR is a great resource for people selling software. I suck just as badly with the hardware I own as the software. It can act as a standalone or a plugin in all major formats on Windows and Mac.
